Frequently Asked Questions About Our Pilates Reformer Machines

Choosing the Right Pilates Reformer Machine for Your Space

A Pilates reformer machine is the biggest investment you'll make in your studio, clinic, or home practice, so it's worth understanding what actually separates one machine from another before you buy.

About Our Pilates Reformer Machines

Every Pilates reformer machine we build is Australian-made, using timber and materials selected for long-term stability in Australian conditions, from humid coastal studios to drier inland climates.

We work closely with instructors and physiotherapists here to refine the details that only matter once a machine is in daily use: spring tension, carriage glide, footbar adjustment and upholstery durability. That feedback loop is why our reformers hold up to the realities of a full class timetable rather than just showroom conditions

Studio, Commercial or Rehab: What's the Difference?

Not every Pilates reformer machine is built for the same job. Here's how our ranges differ:

  • Studio Reformers: Built for boutique and group studios, with a carriage and spring system designed for daily, back-to-back class use across clients of different sizes and abilities.
  • Commercial Reformers: Our heaviest-duty option, engineered for high turnover and constant use across a full class timetable.
  • Rehab Reformers: Designed for clinical settings, with lower step-on heights and adjustable resistance suited to injury recovery, post-surgical conditioning and clients who need a gentler entry point.
  • At-Home Reformers: The same build quality in a more compact footprint, ideal for a home studio or smaller space.

Evolution Reformer™: Choosing Between 1, 2, Low and Studio

Within our Evolution Reformer™ range, the 1 and 2 series differ in frame construction, carriage travel and mobility, giving instructors a choice depending on the style of work they teach and how their space is used. Both series come in Studio and Low configurations, and the 1 series is also built in a Rehab height. The Low models sit closer to the ground, which some instructors prefer for spotting and hands-on cueing, while Studio height suits a more traditional Pilates reformer machine setup. If you're not sure which combination suits your teaching style or client base, our team can talk you through it or arrange a demonstration so you can feel the difference yourself.

Shop Our Range of Pilates Reformer Machines

Setting is one way to narrow it down. Construction is the other. Those ranges start with your space; this one starts with the machine itself, and the three series we build it in.

  • Evolution Reformer™ 1: Finished in powder-coated metal and built in three heights: Low for home practice, Studio, and Rehab, which sits well above studio height so clients can get on and off with minimal effort. The 1 series also carries slightly longer carriage travel and one extra carriage stopper position, giving you a little more movement range and finer control over where the carriage comes to rest. Best for allied health clinics, and for studios teaching taller clients or full-range repertoire.
  • Evolution Reformer™ 2: Solid-framed and finished in white, with wheels fitted as standard on every model. Built in two heights, Low and Studio. Best for studios that move machines between rooms or reset the floor between classes, and for spaces where a cleaner, more substantial frame suits the room.
  • Wooden Reformers: Our timber-framed range, built as a Studio Reformer and a Rehab Reformer. Same engineering underneath, in solid timber rather than metal, for studios and clinics that want a warmer finish in the room.

Every machine across all three series is made here in Australia. Shop the range to compare configurations, footprints and pricing, or talk to our team if you would like help narrowing it down.

The Spring System: How Resistance Works

Resistance is what makes a reformer workout scalable, from a first-time client to an advanced instructor. Our reformers use a premium 5-spring system designed for precision and longevity:

  • 5 premium springs 3 full-tension (green), 1 half-tension (blue), 1 quarter-tension (yellow)
  • 44 spring bar increments for fine-tuned resistance across any exercise or rehabilitation need
  • Multiple spring attachment points for accurate adjustment as clients progress
  • 8-year recommended replacement period, well beyond the 1–2 years typical of other brands

This means instructors can dial in the right resistance for anyone, from rehab clients needing gentle support to advanced practitioners pushing for strength gains, without the springs losing consistency over years of daily use.

Why PilatesEquip Pilates Reformer Machines Stand Out

Most reformers sold in Australia are imported. Ours are not, and that difference shows up in ways you feel long after delivery:

  • Springs rated for 8 years against the 1 to 2 typical of other brands, so resistance stays consistent for your clients and consumable costs stay low across the life of the machine.
  • Designs refined with working instructors and physiotherapists here in Australia, rather than adapted from a generic export model built for no market in particular.
  • Parts and servicing from the same team that built the machine, not an overseas supplier with a shipping lead time attached to every replacement spring, strap or upholstery panel.
  • A 4-year warranty honoured locally, with no offshore claims process to work through if something needs attention.
