Choosing the Right Wunda Chair for Your Studio
A Wunda Chair does something a reformer can't. It works vertically, it's weight-bearing, and it fits into a room that's already full. For most studios it's the second machine, the one that adds standing and balance work without costing a class spot. Here's how our two chairs differ and which one suits the way you teach.
Split Pedal or Combo: What's the Difference?
Both chairs share the same frame: 545mm wide, with a 605mm seat height and the same spring system. The difference is the handles, which bring the Combo Chair out to 695mm wide.
- Split Pedal Wunda Chair: The two pedals move independently, so you can work one leg or one arm at a time. Fit the connecting rod and they move together as one pedal, like a standard Wunda Chair. It comes with two heavy and two light springs, each with five tension increments, and weighs 30kg.
- Combo Chair: This is the same chair with adjustable stainless steel handles fitted, which open up standing, seated and inverted exercises a chair without handles can't support. It weighs 35kg.
If you start with the Split Pedal, handles can be retrofitted later, so the decision isn't permanent.
Wunda Chair Exercises: What the Chair Actually Does
Work on the chair is vertical and weight-bearing rather than carriage-based, covering unilateral footwork, standing leg press, seated pumping, plank and pike variations, side-lying hip work and upper body spring work. Because each pedal moves on its own, you can work one side at a time, so a weaker leg or arm can't lean on the stronger one.
On the Combo Chair, the handles extend that range to handstands and pike presses, assisted pull-ups, tricep dips, standing side stretches and seated arm work, and give clients a secure grip during balance and rehabilitation work.
Both chairs are built to a height that lets you push them flush against a Trapeze bed, which opens up another set of exercises again.
Made to Handle a Full Timetable
Every Pilates Wunda Chair we make draws on more than 25 years of manufacturing for working studios. Frames are laminate, stainless steel and aluminium, with marine-grade vinyl on the seat, so it wipes down between clients and holds up to sweat and disinfectant across back-to-back sessions. Stainless steel resists corrosion in humid rooms where painted or plain steel degrades over time.
Upholstery comes in twelve colours, so a chair can match a floor of reformers or stand on its own. Every machine carries a four-year warranty.
Who We Build For
Our Wunda Chairs are used across a range of settings throughout Australia:
- Boutique studios adding vertical and standing work to a reformer floor
- Multi-room facilities wanting one consistent chair across every space
- Physiotherapy and rehab clinics isolating one side of the body for recovery work
- Home studios where footprint decides what gets bought
- Franchise groups equipping several locations at once, with bulk purchasing discounts available
Fit Out Your Studio Wholesale
Chairs are rarely a single purchase, so we quote them the way studios actually buy. Discounts apply from three units of the same item, and because you're buying direct from the manufacturer, you're already on trade pricing without the usual retail mark-up.
Manufacturing here also means one team quotes, builds and delivers, and can schedule production around your fit-out or opening date. Tell us your room dimensions and how many chairs you need and we'll put a quote together. Call (02) 9457 8880 or email info@pilatesequip.com.
